Denis Odoi and Neeskens Kebano both opened their account for Fulham as we left it late to beat Wigan Athletic 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.

The Whites had gone in front when Floyd Ayité smashed home in front of the Hammersmith End following sterling work from Sone Aluko.

But the Latics went in to half-time in front after Scott Malone’s own goal was followed up by Michael Jacobs’ close range strike.

Aluko hit the crossbar after the break before Odoi restored parity with a stunning goal from long range, and Kebano came off the bench to slide home a dramatic winner in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

Slaviša Jokanović made four changes to his previous line-up. Odoi and Michael Madl came in for Ryan Fredericks and Tomas Kalas who were suspended and injured, respectively, while Malone and Ayité replaced Ryan Sessegnon and Lucas Piazon, who were both named on the bench.

Fulham started the game on the front foot and were permanently camped in the opposition half, with the first effort arriving in the fourth minute when Aluko’s 20-yarder took a massive deflection and landed on the roof of the net.

That was the only noteworthy action of the opening quarter of the game, with the next coming on 22 minutes when Aluko was penalised for a pull-back just outside the area. It was probably a foul, but the booking that followed seemed harsh. Omar Bogle bent the subsequent set-piece into the arms of David Button.

Aluko continued to be the focal point in the game when he single handedly created the opening goal moments later. With little on and David Perkins in close proximity wide on the right flank, Aluko rolled the Wigan man and then showed considerable pace and strength to get beyond him and to the byline. He then put it on a plate for Ayité who finished coolly inside the box.

It should have been 1-1 shortly after when Bogle dispossessed Tim Ream about two yards from goal, but Button made himself big and the Wigan striker rifled into the side-netting.

The equaliser did arrive in the 33rd minute though when Stephen Warnock’s cross was missed by Bogle, but inadvertently stabbed into his own net by Malone.

Aluko then brought about a smart stop from Jakob Haugaard at the other end as the Whites looked for an immediate response.

Fine work from Tom Cairney and Stefan Johansen three minutes before the break ended with the latter fizzing a dangerous ball across the face of goal that just evaded the outstretched toe of Chris Martin.

Cairney then curled a shot just wide of the far post from the edge of the box in the next passage of play.

Wigan found themselves taking a lead into half-time when they accepted their second gift of the afternoon. Fulham failed to clear their lines and the Latics were able to patiently ping the ball around the area, with Max Power eventually squaring to Jacobs who couldn’t miss from a few yards out.

At half-time they replaced their goalkeeper, with Matt Gilks coming on for Haugaard who was perhaps feeling the effects of an earlier collision with Johansen.

The margin could have worsened eight minutes after the restart when Bogle used his physique to roll his man in the area and open up a shooting chance, but Button was equal to his strike.

Another Aluko run then had the home fans on their feet when he roasted a flurry of Wigan defenders before firing in a shot that Gilks repelled at his near post.

In the 57th minute Jokanović made a double change as Gohi Cyriac and Kebano replaced Martin and Kevin McDonald.

Aluko had been his side’s most dangerous player throughout the game and he went agonisingly close to an equaliser on the hour mark when he was given time and space to take a shot from 22 yards, only to see his dipping strike clip the top of the crossbar on its way over.

Former Fulham man Dan Burn was then yellow carded for bringing down Ayité who was in full flight down the left wing.

Wigan replaced Perkins 65 minutes in with Jamie Hanson.

The visitors were perfectly happy to keep 11 men behind the ball at all times, which was proving to be a successful mechanism in frustrating Fulham. Cairney tried his luck from the edge of the box and managed to squeeze it in between an army of bodies, but it was straight down the throat of Gilks.

Cyriac came close to opening his account for the Club midway through the second half when he slid to connect with Johansen’s cross, but a Wigan toe diverted it over the bar.

Kebano then maybe should have done better when he rose to meet Ayité’s centre and looped his header over the bar.

Callum Connolly became the latest man to have his name taken when he went in hard and late on Ayité 35 yards from goal. That free-kick led to the equaliser as Johansen squared to Odoi who took a touch and thumped a stunning shot low into the bottom left hand corner.

Jacobs almost restored his team’s lead immediately when he opened his body up and placed a low shot on target, but Button got down brilliantly to palm it behind.

Bogle had been troublesome all day and demonstrated some nifty footwork in the 78th minute to create a sight of goal. His effort from range was struck true but always rising, and ended up clearing the frame of the goal.

With 10 minutes to play of normal time, Aluko made way for Scott Parker. And in the 90th minute, Will Grigg replaced Bogle.

In the third of four minutes added on at the end Malone managed to turn in the box, but it was poked behind by a Wigan defender before he could get his shot away.

And in the final minute Kebano secured victory for the Whites with a magnificent solo goal. After shimming away from his man he placed his shot across Gilks and inside the far post to send the Fulham faithful home in an ecstatic mood.
