Fulham beat Marinhas FC’s Under-19s on Saturday morning 5-0. They won in style their first of two tour friendlies in Porto. Ryan De Havilland scored a brace, and Timmy Abraham, Nicolas Santos-Clase and Cameron Thompson got on the scoresheet also.

Last time out The Young Whites beat Peterborough United 7-1 in their only other Pre-season game this summer.

Fulham looked dangerous from the off. In the first minute Dan Martin sprinted down the left wing and sent a well placed cross into the six-yard box, Djed Spence arrived a moment too late to make a connection on goal.

It was with Fulham’s second attack that they gained the advantage. Chris Kelly ran through to the edge of the box before being brought down unfairly. De Havilland stepped up to take the free kick and went for goal, beating the keeper with a clean strike.

Fulham could have made it 2-0 in the the 13th minute. De Havilland again took a set piece from 30 yards out, he found captain Jose Garrido at the back post. The Spaniard headed on target and the keeper was forced to push the ball back into play.

The rebound landed at the feet of Reece York and Scott Armsworth, however they couldn’t get the ball out to get a shot away.

Five minutes later it was The Young Whites once more. Spence was brought down outside the box. Martin took it with his left and the goalie was forced into making a good save. Fulham had gained control of the match.

The match settled down till the 40th minute. Shawkat Tahir was pulled down outside the box, more or less in the exact spot as De Havilland’s first goal. De Havilland stepped up once more and elected to shoot for the bottom right corner this time, and he found the back of the net again with the keeper rooted to the spot to double Fulham's lead.

From the restart Fulham took possession back almost instantly, York slipped a ball through to Abraham up top and he struck bottom left to make it 3-0.

The second half continued as the first and Fulham were piling on the pressure. They won corners from both sides, with Armstrong got free of his man from the set piece but headed over the bar.

Thompson, who came on at halftime received the ball inside the box, stepped inside and let fly into the side netting ten minutes into the half.

In the 65th minute two of Fulham’s substitutes linked up to make it 4-0, Thompson perfectly chipped a weighted ball into the box for the on running Santos-Clase. He pulled the ball past the keeper and slotted it into the back of the net for the fourth.

Five minutes later York forced his way into the area down the left, shrugging off three defenders. He crossed the ball into the danger area and the Marinhas keeper palmed the ball to Thompson, who poked the ball in for his second to make it 5-0.

With five minutes left in the game a corner was pulled back to Tyreese Francois at the edge of the area, he curled his shot but it flew over the crossbar trying to find the top right corner.

Elias Frei was next to try his luck, fancying his chances from 20 yards out he fired at goal, the keeper made a good save in one of the last plays of the match. The referee blew his whistle to end the friendly, with a fine performance from The Young Whites.
