This Saturday is the first match for the U18s in their Premier League Merit Groups, with Fulham in Group 2. Fulham’s first opposition they face is Aston Villa at Motspur Park at 12pm.
The other teams that Fulham will play for the remainder of the season are Stoke, Everton, Derby, Norwich, Spurs and Middlesbrough.
Villa are familiar opponents with the Whites having played them twice already in the Premier League South this season.
Both teams have one win a piece, and Fulham are hoping to make it two out of three. Teams only play each other once in the Merit Groups, and Fulham will be looking to take advantage from playing at home.
The last time these two teams faced each other was at the end of January with the Whites running out 2-0 winners at Aston Villa’s training ground. Goals came from Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson and Mikolaj Kwietniewski.
In the reverse fixture back at the beginning of October, Villa beat the Whites at Motspur Park in a tight 3-2 win, both home goals coming once more coming from Thorsteinsson.
“Obviously the league has been split now,” commented Head Coach Mark Pembridge. “We’ve played Aston Villa twice already.
“We lost at home to them and won away convincingly, I thought we played very well up there and that was only 3-4 weeks ago.
“We had a good performance up there and hopefully we can carry on like that on Saturday.”
The Whites are in good form, having not lost in six games. They were unlucky last time out to draw 2-2 against Norwich. Having been two goals clear, Fulham conceded two own goals. Four wins and two draws in their last six games gives the Whites confidence.
Villa last time out beat Swansea City 3-2, who finished second bottom of the PL South. Villa have found their own good run of form, having won three and drawn one in their last four matches, which should make it a great way to kick off the Merit Group.
Kick off is Saturday 11th March 11am at Motspur Park.
