Head Coach Reaction

Slaviša Jokanović believes all three of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ goals were preventable on Saturday afternoon.

Twice Helder Costa won possession in a dangerous area before squaring to a colleague for a simple finish, which helped his side to a 3-1 win at Craven Cottage.

“We started well enough, we moved the ball from one side to the other,” Jokanović stated. “We created some kind of the chances, but we made a very big mistake which brought us into a complicated situation.

“The second half we tried to take a little bit more of a risk, but we didn’t adapt ourselves and after a minute and a half they scored their second goal.

“Helder Costa killed us. There were two situations that weren’t so dangerous for us, and he created things for his two teammates to put it in the empty goal.

“We weren’t solid enough to stop him, and if you concede two or three goals it’s not easy to find a good result.

“We concede so many goals. I miss winning 1-0. We can avoid the first, second, and third goal if we’re a little bit stronger and more solid in this kind of situation.”

Fulham only needed a draw to move into the Play-Off positions, and Jokanović remains optimistic his team can do what’s required after the upcoming international period.

“We believed we could take the step and be in the top-six going into the international break,” he stated. “We didn’t do well enough, we weren’t fresh enough, we weren’t solid enough.

“We gave them some charity presents during the game, and we paid an expensive price for this situation.

“This break that’s in front of us is coming at a good time so we can recover our minds, recover our bodies, and get ready for the last eight games that are in front of us. Right now we are one point behind the top-six.

“It’s not time to finish the season, it’s time to push harder still, time to recover ourselves, and try and do everything to be in the top-six come the 7th of May.

“In front of us is eight more games. It’s true, this result today is a setback for us, like it was when we played Blackburn at home, but it’s not the end of the season.

“We’re in a situation where we’re fighting for the top-six. Let’s push, let’s try and do everything to be in this position at the end of the season.”
