Reece York’s header at the end of the first half earned Fulham Under-18s a 1-0 win over Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.
The Whites controlled the game from the off, and could have gone in front with 20 minutes played when Isaac Pearce went through one-on-one, only for goalkeeper Cameron Yates to grab the ball off his toes.
York was then denied from point blank range by Yates, but he found a way past the Foxes stopper two minutes before the break when he headed in a pinpoint Matt O’Riley corner.
Chances were few and far between after the restart, although Yates continued his impressive performance when he kept out late efforts from Nicolas Santos Clase and Steven Sessegnon.
The win saw Steve Wigley’s charges move up to seventh in the standings, ahead of Saturday’s local derby with league leaders Chelsea.
