Fulham Under-18s were back in action today with a home fixture against Tottenham Hotspur and the Whites were intent on getting their first home win of the season against a side who took seven points from a potential 9 over their last three fixtures.
The first real chance of the game came for the home side when Cameron Thompson’s strong attempt was well kept out by Spurs ‘keeper Jonathan De Bie.
On the half hour mark Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson had an opportunity to put the home side ahead when he stepped up to take his free-kick but unfortunately struggled to beat the De Bie.
The visitors then had their own golden opportunity to put themselves in the lead after they were awarded a corner but centre back Japhet Tanganga couldn’t get his attempt on target and it blazed over the cross bar.
Both sides came out after the break unchanged and Spurs almost found the back of the net after a Jose Garrido mistake but Whites ‘keeper Tay Ashby-Hammond’s quick reactions were enough to deny the goal.
With 17 minutes to go Tottenham Hotspur found themselves with the opportunity to score from the spot. Jose Garrido was adjudged to have pulled down Aramide Oteh in the area and up stepped Sam Shashoua who confidently tucked his opportunity away in order to allow the away side to leave Motspur Park with the three points.
